My declaration

Love represents a range of emotions and experiences related to the senses of affection. Love can refer to a variety of different feelings, attitudes, and attraction. As a huge concept, romance is a strong feeling towards another person. The limited conception of romance, however, accomplishes different feelings, from the passionate desire and intimacy of romantic love. Love in its various forms acts as a major subject of interpersonal relationships and to its central psychological importance. It is one of the most common themes in the creative arts.
I chose this concept because romance is the true identity of our love. It brings out my true self and helps me have a good understanding on the concept of romance. Romance is a celebration of the life we live as part of a couple. It makes me do things that I couldn’t possibly have imagined to do otherwise. It shows who I am and reminds me of the role I have to play in a relationship. I define romance as the appreciation of two people who are commemorating the fortunate coincidence that they found each other.

“There are three possible parts to a date, of which at least two must be offered: entertainment, food, and affection. It is customary to begin a series of dates with a great deal of entertainment, a moderate amount of food, and the merest suggestion of affection. As the amount of affection increases, the entertainment can be reduced proportionately. When the affection IS the entertainment, we no longer call it dating. Under no circumstances can the food be omitted.”

Narrative

I remember that photograph. I found this photograph in my attic where it was shoved into a pile of old books I used to write. It was amazing how old this picture was. When I glanced at the picture I finally realized it was my best friend and soul mate. That photograph brought back memories that I will never forget. It was a chilly and weary day in the daytime where the sky was gray and everyone was inside. It felt like it was just my girl and I in our own world. She was beautiful. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her in which I knew she was the one for me. I was only 3 years old but I already knew what my affections towards her were. I wasn’t like most 3 year olds. I was romantic and thoughtful little boy.

Back in the 1950’s my neighbor and I would go to the beach and play with our toy trucks and amuse ourselves with our shovel and pail. It filled me up with much enjoyment.
“Mommy can I got to the beach today with Lilly?” I asked.
“Yes hunny. But you need to take your nap and then I can take you.” Mother replied.
“Ok mommy ill take my nap now.” I said.
I was cheerful and happy right after my nap. I arrived at the beach with my mommy and waited until my mom unstrapped me from my car seat. I saw her gorgeous face and gave her a huge hug when I approached her. Her beautiful blue eyes and angelic face made my heart race. It was love at first sight. While walking down the beach, I grabbed her hand and she grabbed mine. Looking at the view made the moment everlasting.
This photograph brought back so many memories to when I was young and in love. I am now 72 years old and married to my Lilly. I showed her that photograph and we both started to shed tears. It was an instant connection that will be remembered. I will always love her and she will always love me.

Falling in love on South Beach

Elizabeth, a small town girl in California, wanted to see if she will ever find her true love. She was never into the whole dating scene because her rich parents never approved. She was smart, unique, and funny which made everyone fall in love with her. She treasured South Shore beach and loved how the soft and wet sand felt on her feet. The loud seagulls and the sound of the waves crashing made all of her feelings go away. Every morning, she would depart to this beach and express her emotions in her diary. The beach was very serene and peaceful which to her felt tranquil. As she was walking down the South Shore, she came across a young and charming man who was walking his golden retriever. His golden retriever went over to Elizabeth and started sniffing her up and down. She started to pet the dog and the young man ran over to her and apologized about his dog.
“What a beautiful dog you have!” Said Elizabeth.
“Why, thank you miss.” He replied.
The two individuals had a lovely conversation in which they realized how much they have in common. After their rendezvous, he asks her for her number. She gives him her number and the next day they go on a date on the same beach they had met each other. The beach was abandoned and peaceful with the breeze hitting both of their faces. He grabs her hand and start walking along the shore of South Beach on the gritty sand. It was so passionate and idealistic in which Elizabeth never forgot about that day. Years later, Elizabeth and her husband, Dave got married on South Shore Beach in California where they would always remember the time they met each other. The beach had always been their desired spot since.

My Paradox Poem

I have a twin sister but she doesn't look like me
My hair looks like a beautiful disaster when I get up in the morning
I love coffee but I hate Dunkin Donuts
I listen but most of the time I don't hear
I love my car but I hate driving it
I love the summer when there's a cool breeze
I love the beach on a hot day but I hate the ice cold water
I love school but I can't wait to get out

The photograph was taken by the person who also took the photography for the film, A Walk to Remember, took a picture of a boy holding his girlfriend while looking at the stars. The film and the photography were done in 2002. Love and loss run throughout two very young lives. Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan who are two people who find themselves unexpectedly are thrown together after a practical joke between Landon and his friends which leaves a boy in the hospital. One day Landon brings up the courage to ask for her help with his lines for a spring play. Through trials and problems leading up to this play, Landon somehow falls in love with the beautiful minister’s daughter abandoning his friends to be with her. Landon shares a true love with the girl, but a heart breaking secret lies between the couple, which makes his relationship with Jamie stronger.
When looking at the photograph, the viewer’s eyes are drawn to the focal point which is the girl lying on her boyfriend looking at the stars. They stand out because of the lightness shining upon them. Aesthetically, it is very pleasing to look at because of the light hues which bring out the whole image. The tone of the photograph shows shades of darkness that circles the photograph. The field of brown in the background demonstrates values of brown and yellow. The image balances out the colors which treats each color and part equally.
I’ve been so alone, and even worse than being alone I have cancer. But ever since I’ve been with my new boyfriend, things have been amazing! Although my dad made him leave once he dropped me off at my house, I got out of it by meeting him at this field to be with him more. It was so romantic. He brought us not only one blanket but two. He makes me feel so comfortable. He even brought me hot chocolate for the morning. And not only that, he named a star after me! It was the best moment of my life, I couldn’t ask for anything better. I love him.

Romance IV

This painting Romance IV, created by Jan Alexandra Rae. The artist quotes "apart from painting, dancing tango is my passion in life. I interpret this dance as a stude in connection, and painting about the dance is a way of integrating these two creative fields." This piece is one of the most famous in her section of romance.
The composition of the piece is showing two people dancing romantically. The image's hue reveals compassion, wealth, and love. Based on the value of the image, the shades are shown to look darker rather than lighter, just to show the mood of the piece. The image creates harmony by the way the two people are dancing and kissing. The shaping of the bodies highlight the whole image.
It was Valentine's Day! Finally! I could not wait to see what my man had planned for us this evening. As I finished up getting ready, I heard the doorbell ring. It was him; I was so happy and jolted to the door. He had a bouquet of roses in his hand waiting to give them to me. He also had something behind his back. I asked him, "What you hiding back there?" He pulled out a huge box of chocolates! My favorite! It was the start of a perfect evening. The he had asked me, "Are you ready, Hun? We have to make it to dinner. I made reservations!" With a huge smile on my face, I took his hand in mine and went off. Once we arrived we ordered our food and heard music playing and I saw couples getting up to dance. I hesitated to ask him. Everytime I ask him to dance he gets so mad. But me, trying to be cute, I ask. "No, babe can we at least eat. I'm starving!" It was quiet for a bit then all of a sudden, I hear some guy on a microphone saying our names. I was confused? Then a light flashed onto us and he gets up and asks me, "May I have this dance?" I gracefully took his hand and we were the only couple on the floor. And its not only any song, it's our first song that we dedicated to ourselves. He told me he took lessons for me and finally told me he loved me. It was a perfect night...of romance.

My Concept of Romance

I am doing my Concept-folio on romance. I think I can express myself in many different ways. This would be a great concept to whomever is in love or want to find their soulmates.
